Description: perennial with (3-10 ft.) stout stems and long, strap-like leaves. Beautiful, brown spikes of flowers form in summer. Cattails filter water as well as provide food & shelter for wildlife. It grows in shallow, standing water, mud, and disturbed areas. Can be aggressive. Use caution in wetlands! Obligate (usually grows in wetlands). Sun.
